Kanso: The essentials of a knife

A dialogue without artifice between the essence of two materials: a blade and a handle which manifest their simple nature.

Inspired by the Japanese concept Kanso which means “simplicity”, “sobriety” or “purity”. It is a philosophy that advocates the essential and nothing else. The abandonment of the superfluous leaves room for the simplicity of an object. Kanso knives recall this spirit; the beauty of a thing in its simplest form.

Philosophy of Kanso

The Kanso collection goes back to basics:
It is a meeting of primitive forms, a coexistence of materials in their pure and true state. A blade of premium steel and a selection of exceptional woods to create a knife stripped of all superfluity. Each piece is unique: it whispers its story and reveals its essential beauty.

Taking care of my Kanso

To best preserve your Kanso, avoid prolonged contact with water (especially the dishwasher) and chemicals. These simple care procedures will ensure the beauty and durability of your knife.

Ethics and Manufacturing

The Kanso are made entirely by hand. Each is a combination of two different woods, with the collar detail marking the final signature of this minimalist design. The elongated handle, inspired by Japanese aesthetics, and its diameter are carefully calculated to allow for an optimal grip. The wood is polished with a quality finish that nourishes and protects it, and enhances its natural beauty.

choice of blades: why Pallarès Solsona?

This collection also marks a return to basics in my personal life. Having always lived near the Spanish border, the blades of Pallarès Solsona, whose workshop is an hour from my home, have always been part of my life. Little known in France but very popular in Spain, this brand, founded in 1917, is today renowned for its quality and prestige in the cutlery industry.
